Nicknamed "The City on the Move", San Diego is a melting pot of cultures, people, and weather. A haven for skateboarding since its inception. In 2018, skater Kellen James founded the Arts-Rec skateshop. The store, which has two locations, is inspired by the duality of skateboarding. It offers a carefully curated selection and community events that reflect the creative spirit of San Diego.

The colorway is inspired by the scenery, wildlife, and energy of the San Diego Zoo, located in Balboa Park. The modern look reflects nostalgic colors with subtle hues and animal motifs.

The ankle version has a suede and leather upper with a perforated toe. At the beginning of the lacing is a Velcro traction strap that provides greater stability, with the inscription Arts-Rec. Leather tongue with label patch and contrasting Nike SB logo emroidered on the heel. The insole has an animal fur graphic with the inscription Nike SB x Arts-Rec. In addition, spare colored laces are included in the package.

The Nike Air Trainer 1 shoe model has been seen in the past on legends such as multi-sport athlete Bo Jackson. Bo is a former professional baseball and American fotball player. He is the onle professional athlete in history to be named an All-Star in both baseball and football. Jackson's elite level of skills in multiple sports has given him the reputation of one of the greatest athletes of all time. Another promoter of the Air Trainer model is tennis player john McEnroe, or later also the first tennis superstar Andreas Agassi.
