The brand was founded in 2016 in New York by Emilio Cuilan as a result of the release of Dana's video. The brand is inspired by New York skateboarding and its local scene, with an emphasis on elevating skate products beyond the often "semi-finished" ones. The Hardbody team has been ridden by professional riders Hjalte Halberg and Antonio Durao since 2024.
